The Role

As a Full Stack Developer, you will be working as part of a small, dynamic development team, directly alongside the co-founders of Level. Together, our team delivers world-class strategic financial advice and bookkeeping services to one of the most underserved, and largest small business segments on the planet. You’ll have endless opportunities to be a problem solver, and drive positive change in people’s lives.

Your Mission

Accelerate the Level development team by:

Be a strong communicator, self-starter, and someone who can deliver readable, well-written code with little to no oversight.

Independently translate feedback or new feature requests from our Level team or support channels into technical solutions, provide level of effort estimates, and deliver high quality user experiences on both our mobile and web applications on schedule.

Work closely with our team, being able to jump on ad-hoc peer coding calls and into code problems. Be comfortable working with multiple code bases, and most importantly not be afraid to ask questions!

Have a knack for understanding and communicating complex data using charts and tables.

Your Responsibilities

By 3 months:

• You can independently implement, test and deploy features on our web application and mobile application

• You can independently implement, test and deploy code to our AWS serverless backend environment

• You are able to provide project completion timelines and deliver within 90% accuracy

By 6 months:

• You can improve our CI/CD process by implementing deployment pipelines from our Git repository to AWS serverless environment

• You can make our platform more resilient by implementing integration testing

By 6 - 12 months:

• You can lead large, multi-pronged development efforts with numerous developers

Experience

Experience in React, React Native, and Node.js

Experience developing APIs (both RESTful and GraphQL)

Experience integrating with APIs and comfortable working with developer documentation

Familiarity with cloud platforms (ie. Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform)

Located in Canada or US (we work remotely)

Nice to haves:

Experience writing unit tests, integration tests, and implementing CI/CD workflows
